This year’s Grand National could be one in which the classier animals come to the fore and that brings Tidal Bay, Long Run and Burton Port right into the mix. Forced to narrow that list down to one potential winner Tidal Bay would be my main tip to win the race on Saturday. Long Run is looking to complete the Cheltenham Gold Cup and National double while Burton Port has some decent form against top class horses.
Only three horses aged 13 or over have won the race but Tidal Bay is no ordinary teenager. He was good enough to win the Arkle Chase in 2008 but still remains something of an enigma. However, his form over the last two years at the highest level and in significant Grand National trials means he can defy the age trends.
